MacBook Air will not connect to Internet (no problem with other devices). Message states " Wi-Fi has the self assigned IP adresss 169.254.147.1and will not connect to Internet.

Your wireless card is not getting an address via DHCP from your router. Make sure you are connecting to the correct network. Make sure DHCP is turned on in your router configuration.
First, try restarting the router. If there's no change, hold down the option key and select the Wi-Fi menu in the menu bar. What value is shown for Security?
