Changing SIM Card while abroad???

Hi,

I'm going to be living in China for a few months.

My iPhone 4 is a Prepay/Pay As You Go.

If I get a Chinese Sim Card, will that have any effect on the iPhone other than changing the number?

Will it restart my device as a Chinese iPhone or will it still be the same?

Also, China has restrictions on some internet activity and communication - will the SIM allow my FaceTime or Skype to be affected?
