how do i update my 2nd generation ipod

By following the instructions in that article to update it from iTunes on a computer, which will update it to iOS 4.2.1, the last version compatible with it.

Hey I tried to do as you said and all but it did not work. Is there no other way to do so. Also could I just ask what it updates it to. Is it poss to get I dunno...iOS 5 for example?? Cheers.

why can this ipod only go to 4.2.1?
Because its harware does not support a higher iOS. The 2G only has 128 MB of memory, a less capable mail processor and graphics processor than later iPods.
