bluetooth options not available in macbook pro

please help! my magic mouse could not be "discoverable" so i checked the batteries and tried again but didn't work. this has happened before so i turned off bluetooth then tried to turn in back on but this was no longer an option. now bluetooth seems to have dissapeared from the systems preferences and in the system profiler, bluetooth is there but it says "No information found". i also have a wireless keyboard connected through a USB drive that is working just fine, is only the mouse that is not connected. what can i do to fix this?
