will not reset

Newer ipad, I have had in use for one month, I connected to my computer, was prompted a newer Ipad software version available, accepted prompt. The Ipad now shows a usb cable pointing to Itunes display. So I connect to my computer, prompt on computer tells me it cannot connect to Itunes check back at a later time. I have tried to connect for two days with the same issue a display on the Ipad of a usb cable pointing to the Itune icon on the Ipad.

I have my Iphone, Ipad, Ipod backed up on my computer in Icloud and Itunes what do I do to fix my new Ipad I am scared to connect anything else to Itune fearing a failure to my other apple products, Help?

iPad 2, Windows Vista, I have The Iphone 4 and Ipod.
