Trouble with the side rotation

I am sorry if I am posting in the wrong place, but I could not find a place to enter the discussion. I want my IPAD to rotate AND still have my sounds like it used to do! Why should I have to choose between sound and rotation?? I want to have my Apple work flawlessly, as it used to. Please FIX this problem!! it worked fine before I upgraded.

All you are choosing is what the side switch controls, you can still control both. Depending on what you've set Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then one function will be controlled by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, and the other function will be controlled via the keft-hand end of the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4085

So if you switch on the side is controlling rotation lock, then you should have a notification mute icon at the far left of the taskbar.
