Q: I was just prompted to update my Apple TV.  I followed the onscreen instructions.  To the letter.  It said when the update was complete the system would restart.  It did not.  And now my remote doesn't work.  The unit will not come on at all.  Any ideas?

Up until 30 minutes ago my Apple TV was working perfectly.  Following an onscreen prompt that there updates available, I followed the process to get and load the updates. I followed the onscreen instructions.  To the letter.  It said when the update was complete the system would restart.  It did not.  And now my remote doesn't work.  The unit will not come on at all.  I've gone through the various suggested "resetting" your Apple TV options suggested in all the support literature.  Power off.  Wait.  Power on, etc.  Changed battery on remote although it was brand new.  Tried to re-pair the remote.  No luck.

I'm in the position where I can't turn the system on, so I can't try any menu reset options.  Any suggestions.  This really ****** me off!

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:

    1. Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    2. Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    3. Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    4. Open iTunes.
    5. Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
