I installed a program called Imperial Glory ... when I uninstalled it, the folder/volume remains showing in my Favorites (directory) list. When I try to delete it, I get a message saying "volume cant be found" ... "delete the alias" or "fix the alias." what does that mean, and how do i do it.

Can you explain what you mean by favorites/directory list? Is this the sidebar in Finder, or somewhere else?

sorry, i should have been clewaer ... its in the sidebar in finder.
Control-click on the offending item, choose Remove from Sidebar in the dropdown that appears.
that did it. many thanks. id have never figured that out on my own. the solution is hardly intuitive.

BTW, control-click == right-button-click.
