HELP, iPhone won't update and is "frozen"...

Itunes keep saying that there was a "connection error", etc. And I've done everything it says to and the usb and itunes icon will still not go away from my screen. I have tried 4 times to restore it and "update" to IOS 6.1. Nothing is working. HELP.
