new mail icon syncing across devices

When I receive new mail, my iPad and iPhone and mac all show correctly how many new mails have been received.

Is there a option for when I have read the emails on one device, the new mail count on the other devices reflects this?

i.e. if two mails are showing as new, and I read one, the new count of one is shown on all devices.
