What if I erased my hard drive and need About My Mac?
I reinstalled my OS but need to get a Profiler About My Mac?
How do I do this?
I reinstalled my OS but need to get a Profiler About My Mac?
How do I do this?
Let me add..I do not want to go thorugh the Setup Process..and I'm selling it.
Click on the apple > about this mac > more info > system information/profiler.
Additional Info: if your machine had ML preinstalled, you may make a one time transfer of the license; however........ if you purchased Mountain Lion at the app store, the license is not transferable - it is tied to your Apple ID forever. If you sell it with ML installed, the buyer will never be able to reinstall. You must erase the drive and reinstall the original system; the buyer can then buy ML with their own Apple ID.
I know to go to the Apple..However since it's a new install..there is NO APPLE in the first screen.
I do not want to go through the setup process again.
Please tell me how to see my Profile information without setting up account.
Thanks
You can't. You didn't say you were at the setup screen. You can either abort that by hitting the power button and shut it down (at the next boot, the same screen will pop up), or you can set up an account.
If you are reinstalling ML and intending to sell it, please keep in mind the information I posted above.
So I will have to install a fresh copy of ML on an another drive. Boot up with that..do the setup process..and just look at the About this Mac. Take some screen caps. DropCopy it over to another puter.
Keep that setup bootable drive in case I need to do this again.
Was trying to avoid that...but well, alrightly then.
You could install a flavor of OS X that you know will boot this Mac (you did not identify which one it is, but then again, maybe that is why you want to do an About this Mac...) onto an external hard drive and boot off of that.
UPDATE: Looks like we cross-posted...
If you are selling the machine you don't set up a profile. You quit the Mac Setup process after the OS installation. When the new owner boots up the Mac he sets up a profile.
It would help us help you if you were to post the info re. the main component in this discussion:
Which OS version did your computer come with?
Which OS version are you trying to sell it with?
The answer is : It cannot be done from the startup screen..so the problem has been answered.
But just for your curiousity...it's our company's server. Purchased mid 2012. We just got the new ML server. We upgrade and sell our computers every year.
