Feb 1, 2013 9:17 AM in response to evh92by fordyingseasons,Hey evh92,
The VRAM dedicated to the integrated graphics card is not the same as the RAM you just upgraded, so upgrading to 16 GB of RAM will not change the VRAM dedicated to the HD 4000. Hope that helps!

Feb 4, 2013 3:00 PM in response to evh92by fordyingseasons,Sorry about that, I was completely wrong. The integrated chipset does share memory from RAM. From what I was told there is no way to reallocate memory for the HD 4000 graphics, I may be misinformed on that too though... The article does mention for HD 3000 graphics chipsets, "8 GB of RAM, 512 MB allocated. Exception: 384 MB is allocated on 15-inch and 17-inch systems." and if I look at my 15" 2012 MBP I have 384 MB allocated with 8GB of RAM. I'm going to do some more research and if I find anything interesting out i'll post it here.

Feb 4, 2013 3:58 PM in response to evh92by custom mini,The video memory (Vram) on any Intel integrated graphics is dynamic meaning that the amount allocated is dependant on :
The amount of total memory installed in the machine ie 2Mb, 4Mb etc
The program being used and how graphically demanding it is.
Thus the machine will allocate anything from 64 Mb upto 768Mb, you as the user can not normally change this.
(This is the same for Windows machines with Intel graphics)
Custom mini.

Feb 11, 2014 7:31 AM in response to evh92by cbs20,Upgrade to Mavericks and it will allocate 1GB of RAM to the integrated Intel chipset for 1024MB of VRAM. With Mavericks compression of memory, Apple has allocated more RAM to VRAM.
