Vram HD4000 before upgrade ram macbook pro

Hello! Today I upgraded the ram in my macbook pro 15 "late 2012 (i7 2.3 ghz) bringing it to 16GB. Ram is Samsung 1600MHz. Vram I have noticed, however, that the HD4000 is not increased to 768MB (as it should be 4gb ram = 386mb vram, 8gb ram = 512mb vram; 16gb = 768MB vram.) What can I do about this "problem" does anyone know anything? (sitema is the mountain lion aggornato latest version).

Thank you.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Hey evh92,

The VRAM dedicated to the integrated graphics card is not the same as the RAM you just upgraded, so upgrading to 16 GB of RAM will not change the VRAM dedicated to the HD 4000. Hope that helps!

Sorry about that, I was completely wrong. The integrated chipset does share memory from RAM. From what I was told there is no way to reallocate memory for the HD 4000 graphics, I may be misinformed on that too though... The article does mention for HD 3000 graphics chipsets, "8 GB of RAM, 512 MB allocated. Exception: 384 MB is allocated on 15-inch and 17-inch systems." and if I look at my 15" 2012 MBP I have 384 MB allocated with 8GB of RAM. I'm going to do some more research and if I find anything interesting out i'll post it here.

The video memory (Vram) on any Intel integrated graphics is dynamic meaning that the amount allocated is dependant on :

The amount of total memory installed in the machine ie 2Mb, 4Mb etc

The program being used and how graphically demanding it is.

Thus the machine will allocate anything from 64 Mb upto 768Mb, you as the user can not normally change this.

(This is the same for Windows machines with Intel graphics)

Custom mini.

This video will help you to know how increase the video memory after increase your Ram memory. i have an early 2011 macbook pro 13.3'' A1278 intel core i5 2,3 Ghz with an integrated intel hd 3000 with 384MB shared OS X El capitan. Thanks to this video, i was able to increase to 1024MB of memory shared after increase my Ram memory to a 16GB 1333Mhz DDR3. Hope it will be hopeful for you. You have to disable the SIP before if u are using OSx Capitan, after finish you can enable it again. For info: Update OSx make video memory back to standard value. Good luck
