Hi guys.
Facing a lot of draft printing in connection with my forthcoming M.A. in hymnology, I kinda »dug up« my old ImageWriter II, bought a KeySpan Serial Adapter, downloaded the latest driver from Tripp•Lite
............... AND .....................
NOTHING!!!
I realize, I've missed something here, but what?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A laser printer is like $100. I just purchased a Brother HL-2270DW and it works great.
You should go that route, rather than trying to get a 30 year old printer working on your Mac. I had an ImageWriter II in 1988.
Don't get me wrong - I do have a Brother HL - 4040CN, but where I live, colour toners don't come cheap.
I think you'll find getting the Imagewriter working will be an exercise in utter frustration.
Plus, you have ready access to ink ribbons that aren't dried out? That would be quite the cache.

No problems there. I have fresh, new, ribbons and the right kind of paper - plus acces to buy more when needed.

There is absolutely no reason to trash a perfectly good printer.
See this post. You will find reference in that post to the Serial Print Enabler. Use the one for Lion (OS X 10.7) that is included with the download.

Me too, I had it too. I didn't think it was possible to use it with Mac OS X computers. Parallel printer, sure like I did with a client's old HP LaserJet 6P printer with CUPS and a USB+parallel adapter. It worked OK, but sometimes the driver gets stuck and requires disconnection and reconnection to work again.
