i have an ipod question. here's the scenario - my ipod is fully set and all of the music in my itunes is gone. if i go to sync the ipod, will all of the music in the device go away or will the items on the ipod go into itunes?

If you last synced with that iTunes library/computer then no. Otherwise yes. To avoid the problem see:

if i understand correctly, all of my carefully constructed playlists are doomed :-/ .
