two monitors on iMac drag and drops in wrong spot

I have an IMAC 2012 Version

with two thunderbolds

have two monitors hooked to it at 1080p

when i drag and drop files from safari or apple mail to the desktop they show up approximatly 16inches right of where the mouse is dropping.

any suggestions or help would be great.

when i boot into safe mode it works fine but standard login still have this issue and even under the guest login too.

did a PRAM and that did not solve the issue either.

any other suggestions.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Do you have any system cleaning software that affects the DS_Store file? This can affect icon arrangement on the Mac.

And you don't have View menu -> Show View Options -> Sort by None selected?

just "show item info" and "snap to grid" are slected. Even when "NONE" is selected it still places about 16 inches to the right. no matter what screen i'm on. (if on the far right screen it places it into the default home location on center monitor top left)

I have the exact problem... it seems to drop what I'm dragging in random spots on the wrong monitor (usually on the display to the right). Any solution? This is the new (2013) iMac with 2 external displays connected (3 total displays).

Same problem here on a mid 2011 27" iMac. Recently added a second monitor to make a total of three screens. This did not occur when there was only the iMac and one additional monitor. Always drops the file clear to the right of where I actually release the mouse button. Solutions would be awesome!

I'm having the same problem. This only happened once I upgraded to the new 2012 iMac. On my old MacPro, the item would be placed on whichever screen I dagged it to. Hopefully someone finds a solution. BTW... I did run disk utlilty to repair permissions.

I been having the same problem since I got my new MacBook Pro (Early 2013). Super annoying.
