Q: 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory) running OS 10.8.2.  It has two graphics components: an AMD Radeon HD 6750M and a built-in Intel HD Graphics 3000. Since I've had the computer, the screen would get a blue tint when the computer switched between them.

However, as of two days ago, the problem has become substantially more severe.  The computer was working fine, when all of a suddent the screen when completely blue.  I had to force restart the computer.  Since then, the screen has gone awry on numerous occassions - each time necessitating a hard reset.

I installed gfxCardStatus, and have discovered that the computer runs fine using the integrated card, but as soon as I switch to the discrete card - the screen goes .

I am just wondering what my options are (any input on any of these would be appreciated!):

1) Replace the logic board.  Would this necessarily fix the issue?

2) Is there any way to "fix" the graphics card?

3) Keep using gfxCardStatus and only use the integrated graphics card.  This is definitely the easiest/cheapest option, but to have such a computer and not be able to use the graphics card seems like a real shame.

4) Is there any other alternative?

If you agree to the rules then stick to them, we all know about people who don't keep their word.

I'm not sure why we can't post that email. The law firm has made it clear that anyone is welcome to read the info and participate.

Anyhow if contact the firm directly I'm certain they'd be happy to share the status.

What does that mean? Can you be more specific?

Because you have not bothered to read the Terms and Conditions you agreed to, it's really not a complicated answer.

You don't know what the terms of the site are, so you are unaware of their transgression.

If you can not read or understand the TOC yourself then don't agree to it.

I am not here to read it to you.

No one is asking to have CSound1 read the TOC to them.
There is nothing in the TOC by which was violated the post copy of reply by law firm.
However, if you refuse to point out where and why the violation, then you are "off topic" and such replies should be deleted, as your off topic comments don't provide any useful information to those suffering the loss of their MBPs, whereas the post copy of reply from law firm most certainly does provide such useful information.

Where is an Apple moderator when you need one?

Unlike you, I will cite chapter and verse -

See TOC 2. Submissions 1. Stay on Topic

Your interpretation of the Terms is not the one actually in use.

If you want it to be try posting here

Until and unless it is adopted it will have no use.

    You asked.

    Mendacity or forgetfulness?

I read them and there's nothing in the terms I violated by posting either info about how to find more accurate info via google nor the posting from the attorneys representing this class. I would suggest that you however are in fact violating a term yourself. #2. Be polite

I however would like to site that #3 "Post constructive comments and questions." Is exactly what I was doing when I encouraged people to gain access to an ongoing legal case that potentialy remedys the issue we're all working to resolve.

Now, If you think I've violated a term which caused you to remove my productive post I'd ask you to either site the terms that were violated or reinstate my original postings.

Csound1, why don't you take a deep breath and step away from the keyboard.  Everyone posting is being polite and reasonable, and trying to provide helpful information.  Let's not let this discussion about our shared plight of our 2011 MBPs get sidetracked into a flaming war, that doesn't help any of us with our failed laptops.

jasoprano's comment was removed but other off topic, snarky ones remain.

more evidence of manipulation by "moderation".
