Q: 2011 MacBook Pro and Discrete Graphics Card

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory) running OS 10.8.2.  It has two graphics components: an AMD Radeon HD 6750M and a built-in Intel HD Graphics 3000. Since I've had the computer, the screen would get a blue tint when the computer switched between them.

However, as of two days ago, the problem has become substantially more severe.  The computer was working fine, when all of a suddent the screen when completely blue.  I had to force restart the computer.  Since then, the screen has gone awry on numerous occassions - each time necessitating a hard reset.

I installed gfxCardStatus, and have discovered that the computer runs fine using the integrated card, but as soon as I switch to the discrete card - the screen goes .

I am just wondering what my options are (any input on any of these would be appreciated!):

1) Replace the logic board.  Would this necessarily fix the issue?

2) Is there any way to "fix" the graphics card?

3) Keep using gfxCardStatus and only use the integrated graphics card.  This is definitely the easiest/cheapest option, but to have such a computer and not be able to use the graphics card seems like a real shame.

4) Is there any other alternative?

That's the "argument", which seems to be the only "reason" the sound ever turns up.

    Csound1, don't think I did much advertising...
You mentioned it more then I did myself.

In fact, should have to thank you for the free extra advertisement...

So you are using the site for commercial reasons, are you aware that is a violation of the terms of use?

    That's your opinion.

    No, it is fact.

The terms forbid any commercial enterprise on this site,

And if you can not see the impropriety in recommending that people use a 3rd party (such as yourself) rather than Apple then you are lacking in common sense.

You get money by recommending that users not take their Macs to Apple, now there's an unbiased viewpoint

csound1, an apple genius at the Beverly center Apple Store here in Los angeles told me to take my early '11 to a 3rd party if I chose not to pay to send it to depot so please stop spewing bile.

Until you either stop telling lies or support something you say with a fact your posts mean nothing, lies contain no information.

That seems to happen to your posts regularly.

    Try staying within the terms

Well, my reply to getsu was deleted, and then I was banned from posting to this thread, and now I'm unbanned. There is definitely something fishy going on here.

And oh yeah, my reply to D3us was also deleted. These last 2 deletions were made with no reply ("reason") from the no-reply@Apple.com email account.

I though you understood, but as you don't.

If a post transgresses the terms of use it may be removed, if it does not it will not be removed. The hosts decide which is which, our opinion is inconsequential.

Are you clear on how it works now?

If there is one I would recommend it. But not on Apples site.

Do you have a website? can I advertise a competitors services on it?

TO everyone on this board, the gpu failures are consistent with at least one of  the second gpu pins contact points failing to make the proper contact. When the machine gets extremely hot, expansion may temporarily allow the pin contact but eventually compression returns and the pin returns to partial contact. During the review of my machine, Apple tech support acknowledge and validated my opinion And eventually replaced my 11 with a 14 retina MacBook. May the Force be with You All.

I have no commercial interests here, unlike D3us I make no money out of this.

    Now, what are your motives.
