hi, unfortunately my macbook pro early 2011 has the same defects, I trust in Apple.

    MBP 2Ghz i7 with 6490M bought in April'11.

A few weeks ago I had the same issues. My MBP screen would go "blue" and there was no easy way to fix it. Fortunately, after a few days it got fixed without me touching anything.

Now I'm scared it will happen again. I really need this Mac for my daily work.

Same goes here. My MBP early 2011 is 30 months old and I've got the same problem since more than a month ago. Playing flash on youtube, running parallels desktop cause the problem. Resetting the PRAM and SCM does not help and after the reboot the MBP goes straight into sleep mode. I've found the workaround: Simply let the MBP to stay in sleep mode after reboot, turn it off after 5 or 10 minutes then reset it again and it starts up again. This is not the fix but will help you work with the laptop until you've got time to take it to an Apple store. I'm going to do this next month.I've got apple care and hope that replacing the logic board just for ONCE, solves the problem.

Mine is doing it too.  It started right after I updated the OS.  Hope that they come out with a solution soon.

With your 15" mid 2010 model, you may be having a somewhat different problem.

Also Macbook Pro 15 inch, early 2011 (AMD Radeon HD 6490M)

A couple of weeks ago, the screen on my Macbook went grey and since then I was never able to start the laptop again.

I went to an Apple official repair shop (I'm in Argentina) and they told me that the motherboard needed to be changed, but the replacement parts aren’t arriving due to local importation problems. I ended up going to another technician who was able to “revive” it, but there is no guarantee that I won’t have this issue again. Apparently there seems to be a general problem with the video board from this series of laptops.

For now I can use the laptop but when it switches to the AMD video board, it overheats and I have to speed up the fan manually.

I have an old "iMac line screen", I hope Apple give me a prompt solution.

I am to a 2011 MBP owner and in the Month of October, the computer just froze on me. I had to manually shut down. After the shutdown, I saw some that the apple logo on start up looked strange and the screeen only goes white on boot up. Safe mode operates but it displays a bunch of vertical blue lines. I guess this is a problem with the GPU too.

For me I cant take it to the apple store. We have only and authorized service dealer.I am located in the USVI . II did not have the apple care. I dont even think fixing it would be smart if the GPU's are bad. The problem will happen again down the road.

I've experienced what I beleive are early symptoms of this precise problem on my MBP 17" Early 2011 with an

AMD Radeon HD 6750M Graphics card.

Just this weekend a graphics glitch appeared when using Photoshop.

The problem occurred on the laptop screen only, while the external HDMI screen connected through the Mini Display port appearred to be OK.

Upon rebooting the glitch has not reoccurred yet, but it is of great concern.

I have never seen this before last Saturday in the near 3 years I've own this laptop.

    Same problem!!!

Here's a link for a Replacemente Program Apple launched for contemporary iMacs

It does not apply for us yet! But I see there are a lot of us, and there's even a link on a very famous spanish blog about this issue

I think we should reach out to Apple and request a replacement program for us as well

The Video Card on my computer is AMD Radeon HD 6570M

Let's get some support and contact Apple so that our product works fine, that's the reason why we paid a lot of money for a quality product, it's not fair that a computer that is relatively new has such a failure

  • dxhyp Level 1 Level 1

What so interesting is that we are all experiencing this issue for the first time at around the same time.
