Replacement screen for imac 27" late 2012

My new late 2012 27" imac has a scratch. Is it possible to replace the glass?

You'd be surprised at what might be covered. It's worth a shot to schedule an appointment. The worst that happens is they don't cover but at least you'll have a price for getting it fixed right.

The glass on the new iMacs is glued down as I'm sure you're aware of and getting it off and getting it back on again without messing anything else up is not easy. You've got a brand new machine that (might) need new glass, do you really want to turn that into soemthing like needing a whole new LCD panel?

How bad is the scratch? How deep is it?

My cat pushed my late 2012 27 iMac off the desk and it fell on the floor. When I pulled it back up I gasped with horror. Although the LCD survived, the screen cover is cracked and the metal in the back bent a littlebit.

I have Apple care but obviously it woudn't cover the costs.

I took it to Apple and here is a quote for the repair: (I'm in the UK)

661-7169Display Panel, LCD, (27-inch Late 2012)£ 375.00£ 375.00
923-0522Housing, Rear£ 250.00£ 250.00
S1490LL/AHardware Repair Labor£ 24.00£ 24.00
VAT£ 129.80
Total£ 649.00£ 778.80

luckily I have accidental insurance, therefore the cat is still alive.

how did you get such a low price? i had to pay a grand with labor for the screen replacement after being forced to carry my 27 inch late 2012 iMac at the bottom of a plane for the second time through Alaska Airlines and its now cracked for the second time from a corner all the way down to the next right across the entire screen. its been over year now and really wanted to fix this again when the price went down from $799 LCD and $300 labor to something that makes more sense.
