UPDATING IPOD TOUCH SOFTWARE TO HIGHER VERSION

My iPod Touch with 16 GB capacity - with version 1.1.5 (4B1)- The back of iPod Touch shows Model A1213.

I have iTunes version 11.0.1.12 in my PC - Windows7.

I am unable to sync my iPod Touch with iTunes. I know my software in iPod Touch need to get upgraded to a higher version.

How can I upgrade software of iTouch to higher version ( I know I can't do it to iOs6. I need to use this iTouch . Help me in this, or else my iPod Touch will be useless. Kurien
