iPad 3 charger problem

With my charger I have to click it in to the ipad charger slot then restart the whole ipad for it to start charging and if i move it a bit it stops charging. I then will have to do that procedure all over again. Can anybody help? Should I buy a new one?

iPad (3rd gen) Wi-Fi, iOS 6.1
