Was able to install the printer and print but need to also scan using the scanner capabiities of the multifunction printer. Is there software and driver for macbook pro (just purchased and moved from PC)
Optionally can I install on the Windows partition (I am also running Fusion/WIndows 7)
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
Check HP web site.
Check if Image Capture recognizes scanner.
Check System Preferences>Print and Scan to see if your scanner shows up there.

You can use the windows partition to scan, although that becomes more complicated.
As sig said, try opening up Image Capture to see if the scanner is populating.
Also, make sure you're on the latest driver software via Apple Software Update.
Looks like there is another download from HP for scanning. Albeit, it is remarkably slower on Mac than PC.
Nonetheless, the problem was solved and I can now scan via Mac side.
