Q: Mid 2011 27" iMac and Apple TV 3 but unable to get Airplay Mirroring.

I have a mid 2011 Imac and have bought a Apple TV 3. Despite the Apple site saying that my Imac will support Airplay Mirroring the option does not appear in Displays or on the tool bar. Airplay works fine from iTunes. What is the problem?

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

You are running OS X Lion, and AirPlay Mirroring requires OS X Mountain Lion > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404

You have two possibilities:

1. Open App Store and purchase and upgrade to Mountain Lion. Then, you will see the AirPlay icon on the menu bar and on System Preferences > Displays.

2. Keep Lion and download AirParrot > http://www.airparrot.com
