What is the best way to charge my iPod Touch 5G?

So I got my iPod Touch 5th Generation on my birthday, December 29th. I know, and I've heard, that charging the battery fully from start to finish is good about once a month, as in you drain your battery then charge it to 100%. But what if I do that everysingle time I charge? I want my battery to charge the best way possible. Will it over charge it or something, if I always have the battery die, and then charge it completely? Please help! Thanks!
