Unable to complete iPod restore due to error 1439

A clash of drive letters caused my ipod to become corrupted. I can't restore because of error 1439. I've tried all of the Trioubleshooting & solutions suggested for this error. The last suggestion was to change the drive letter as the iPod should not be treated like a hard drive (but is being treated that way). I can't change the drive letter on my iPod because it says the drive is unreadable & when I right click there is not cHange driver option. Unlike on all the other drives on my PC. None of the Apple suggested solutions are working. What can I do?
