MacBook cannot connect to internet

I have a MacBook Pro running 10.8.2. As of yesterday, I can't connect to the internet via my wifi network. I know there is nothing wrong with the network, because my other devices are connecting just fine. My MacBook also works fine if I plug in the ethernet cable. Also, it is able to connect and work on nearby unprotected wifi networks, but I don't want to use these for obvious reasons.

The wifi status bar shows a full connection to my wifi network, but when I try to go to a webpage Google Chrome says: "This webpage is not available." At the bottom of the page it says: "Error 102 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED): The server refused the connection." I know it's not just a problem with Chrome because Safari doesn't work and neither does any application that uses an internet connection.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I had the same thing happen to my MacBook and this may sound silly, but I re-started my modem and it started working/connecting (have Comcast).

It was wierd because my wife's and my iPad and iPhone were connected and so was every other device in the house, but my MacBook wouldn't connect. I was about to head to call Apple but I thought I'd just restart my modem and voila... it worked.

I'm not saying that it would work for you, but it did for me... go figure. Good luck, my friend.

I bought the MacBook Pro Retina 13" about 6 months ago. I have infinity-comcast. All my windows devices including iPhones (4 in the household) work fine but my MacBook kept disconnecting.

I called my internet provider, they came out changed the modem... same thing. I took the MacBook back to apple (thank God for AppleCare) and found out that something was wrong with the internet chip (sorry I'm not too technical here) so they replaced my MacBook with another one.

Merry XMas to me and thank you Apple. Now, the new one works fine.
