Why can't I import high resolution scanned or edited or renamed jpg files using the camera connection kit and sd card with files downloaded from a windows computer?
iPad 2, iOS 6.0.1, Windows vista computer

You can do it! But you must do it the way a camera does.
You can use either an SD card or a USB thumb drive. But the photos must be located inside a folder named DCIM, and their names must have eight characters plus the .jpg suffix.

Thanks! I actually thought that the file had to have the format IMG_0000.jpg but your answer actually makes more sense.

I just wish there had been documentation in the piddly instructions that came with the $30 camera connection kit explaining this. It would have saved me hours of trial and error and having to submit the question on line.
