Under Settings-General-Remotes is possible that the Apple TV "learn" the IR commands from any other (non Apple) remote.
However I have tried this with a Beo4 remote (Bang & Olufsen), but the Apple TV does not recognise the Beo4 remote IR commands.
Is this feature expected for a next update of the Apple TV?
(my Apple TV is 3rd generation)

This function used to work very well. Last year I managed to use the 'learn remote' command with a Logitech Harmony One remote. This week, new remote but updated Apple TV software, it no longer works.
I've not heard of any remotes it can't learn, ensure you are following the instructions carefully.
What I mean is the possibility that apple TV has to control it through other third party remotes:

This is working with several but not with Beo4.
Probably the (high) frequency of the B&O remote is out of range of the Apple TV. Logitech remotes can handle this, but are quite cumbersome to operate. An alternative is to have the B&O remote (beo4) equipped with a module for Apple. Im having beo4 fitted, I'll keep you posted how that works.

Initially I thought that probably in a next update of the apple tv firmware it would reconise the Beo4.
But I am afraid that this will not happen ever ( at least with the current apple tvs)
I am interested in to know how can I equipe such module in my Beo 4.
