How do I connect my ipod to my TV so I can play music?

So I have just recently got a new ipod touch - fourth generation for christmas. I'm trying to connect it to my tv which is about 5 - 6 months. I'm using the cord/cable thing you use to connect it to your computer and it is connecting just won't play the music that I have got on my ipod. (440+ songs)

So far , all it has done is do a slideshow of all my pictures that are on my ipod.

Why isn't it playing the music?

- Unless the TV says it is compatible/will play iPod music via the USB connection, that method of connecting the iPod to your TV will not work.

- Easy way is to get a cable that goes from headphone jack to an AUX input on the TV

You can also get a new Apple TV and use AirPlay.

- You can alos get a TV our connector for the iPod
