problem with seagate external harddrive "CNID database" error

I have a seagate external drive (3TB) that has worked fine over my apple airport extreme network for a while. All of the sudden I cannot access it anymore and I get the following error: "Message from server 'goflexhome' Something wrong with the volume's CNID DB, using temporary CNID instead. Check server messages for details. Switching to read-only mode." What does this mean? check what server messages? Can someone please translate this for me? It makes no sense. Thanks!

This is the reply I received back from Seagate Support from their Facebook Page:

First, update the software on your GoFlex Home:http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/220491en

After this is done, a format of the drive would be needed (this will erase all the contents on the drive): Login to seagateshare.com and go to Preferences. At the bottom there is a listing of the drives connected to the drive base. Select the drive. Then there should be an option to Format.

If this does not work, or you would like to speak with a network technician by phone (free call and support), please contact us at 800-732-4283 during our business hours of 8am-11:30am; 1pm-6pm Central time Mon-Friday
