Q: RAM Upgrade for 27-inch, Late 2009

I want to upgrade my RAM I have two slots open it has

1067MHz DDR3 204pin 2GBs per slot

Can I upgrade to

1067MHz DDR3 204pin 8GBs per slot

without causing overclocking, kernal, or graphics card issues?

Processor : 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory : 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics : ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB

Software : OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)

Macintosh HD : 1TB SATA Disk

iMac, iOS 6.0.1, 2.66GHz Intel Core i5

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

The Late 2009 iMac supports 16 GB of memory, so you can install 8 GB of memory (4x2 GB) without any problem. You can buy the memory in OWC or Crucial.

Mactraker says that your iMac can only support a total of 16 GB of RAM, which would be any combo of the correct RAM that adds up to 16. If you installed two 8 GB RAM bars, you would need to remove the factory installed RAM.
