I've just recently bought an MacBook pro, it is running on Os x Mountain Lion and I have been toying around with some of the pre-installed apps and one thing that caught my attention is that the autocorrect settings aren't quite the same as my other apple products. Some words will autocorrect sometimes, but I'm pretty good with spelling so that wasn't much of a problem, the thing that really bugged me was that I couldnt find any way to adjust an auto-punctuation setting. Is there any way to change the punctuation settings, and if so, how would I go about changing them?

Since you are using a Real computer and not a Phone or Pad I doubt you will find the same feature set on a computer that are on most of the other devices that don't have a Built in Keyboard.

So I doubt there are the same type settings, especially for Auto Punctuation. Most people using a Real computer that does have a keyboard would not want that feature as they are use to punctuating their letters, emails, spreadsheets themselves.

What little autocorrection and punctuation the OS offers can be summarized by the System Preferences / Language & Text / Text tab, in conjuction with the Language tab next to it that sets the language order priorities.

Apple apps will heed & respect what you set here. But apps from other makers usually don't. I really HATE the way MS Office's Word munges up the text inserting stupid and inappropriate word substitutions or spelling corrections dragged out of a totally obsolete dictionary, for example.

Now I LIKE the spelling auto-corrections in Word... it easily catches all of my "teh"'s with "the"'s... my fingers jump a little too fast to easily catch that. I also wish that there were a incorrect spelling display on this board like on others... I hate to run the spell checker here and I wind up with misspelled words making me look like and idiot... and I'm for ANYTHING that can make me look a little less idiotic!
