please could some one help me sort out ipad 2 as it is stuck in safe mode whilst down loading ios 6.0.1,the screen has a usb cable showing pointing to itunes with a music logo above that ?

That means that you need to connect it to your computer's iTunes - you should then be able restore/resync your content to it
Your iPad is telling you that it needs help for your computer to get itself working again. Plug it in to your computer with the USB cable and start iTunes. It will tell you that your iPad needs to be restored and offer to do that for you.
