My friend had her 3GS unlocked via Three. They say I should put my sim in and it should activate. I keep getting the activation server error message and the phone won't activate, I plug it inot Itunes and the same error.

I have followed all the steps on the apple support page with no success.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Is it worth while paying to speak to an apple advisor?

Has the phone completed the unlock process? You need the 3 sim to complete the unlock. After that you can put in any sim you want.

Thank you for responding. The unlock process has completed and the instruction from three was to insert a non three sim to complete the process.

My friend says she had the iPhone jail broken prior so I wonder if that has caused some problem?

I was running this phone on IOS 4 then plugged it into iTunes as instructed, it updated to the iOS 6 and won't connect to the server in the update.

    Any advice?

    Thank you

If the phone was previously hacked/jailbroken, the subsequent attempt to legally unlock it will usually fail, which is what seems to have happened here.

As we cannot discuss hacked/jailbroken phones on this forum due to Apple's terms of usage, you will need to find help elsewhere. Sorry.
