Click Options in the Time Machine preference pane and remove the exclusion for system files.
There was nothing excluded!
Hi Steven,
I've come across this same issue recently, I managed to fix it strangely enough by running verify/repair permissions in Disk Utility.
You might need to restart your machine into the Recovery partition to fully run this (restart your mac and press Command+R).
More info on Disk Utility can be found at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1782
Let me know how you get on 🙂
This simple procedure will clear your Time Machine settings.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
Did as you suggested: repaired permissions from Recovery Partition.
No improvement.
Hi Steven,
No worries, have you tried the steps mentioned by Linc above?
Thanks, Linc!
All files are there again as of now.
I seem to have the same or similar problem. iMovie froze on me with two busy spinners. I've used a mac for a long time but never had a need for time machine until now. tM seems to have copied everything on my startup disk except for applications. Applications remains gray when I try to open it in any previous backup. The only thing that I see in the TM preference option window are the names of the other hard drives; Is there a chance that following your procedure will allow the recovery of iMovie or is it lost?
Thanks,
Bob
