Where are the noise gate controls for Real Instruments in Garageband?

Hi,

I'm using Garageband 11 and trying to connect my electric guitar into it using iRig - which basically allows the guitar to use the mic input and take the headhpones output back to an amplifier.

I can see the guitar in Garageband under real instruments, I can monitor it no problem, but the noise gate is so aggressive its simply useless. It cuts the guitar off about 1 second after I pluck a note aggresively.

I can find the noise gate controls when I select microphone input, but for some reason they are not visible for real instruments.

Are there any noise gate controls on real instruments or should I give up and use the hardware signal processor I have instead?

Thanks

The noise gate control should be there, if you select the guitar track and click the "Edit" tab. If it is not visible, click a free brick and add a noise gate control from the pop-uo menu.

The interface for the Electric Guitar Track is a little bit different than a Real Instrument Track (shown in Léonie's screenshot .

1) Go to the same Track Info window

2) When the left Tab is selected (Electric Guitar), click on the Edit button in the right upper corner. (the button turns into a "Done" button).

3) The amp pictures changes to show the rear view of the amp.

4) Now you can see below the effect plugins (in amp rear view) with the Noise Gate instead of the amp controls (in amp front view).

Hope that helps
