If you are attempting to transfer photos by way of BlueTooth, it will not work, as it is not a supported protocol. See below for the complete list.

This has never been a feature of iphone/ipod/ipad.

Bluetooth is supported for handsfree telephone, stereo speakers/headsets, some keyboards, some apps, tethering if provided by the carrier.

File transfer has never been a feature.

I am having the same problem! I have an iPhone 4 & after pairing it, still says "not connected".  This is a brand new phone that replaced my old iPhone 4 & honestly I had the same issue with that phone as well. The bluetooth just never worked. I have an iPod 4th Gen that has no problem. I've searched a lot of "help" sites with no results. Any suggestions?

stedman1 linked to the list of what ios devices support in terms of bluetooth

no other features are supported no matter what one pair it with
