keyboard and mouse glitches (mac book pro + 27" cinema display)

I have been having intermittant keyboard and mouse glitches when connecting mouse and keyboard peripherals to my MacBook Pro (circa 2010) through the 27" cinema display (circa mid 2011).

  • While not entirely sure, this seems to have started happening either after 27" firmware update OR bootcamp reinstall.
  • I have gone through the procedure of SMC reset and PRAM reset, same symptoms.
  • Microsoft wireless mice are unusable.
  • Logitech wireless mouse seems to work reliably now.
  • Apple keyboard consistently types multiple characters after restart.
  • Have tried two same model Apple keyboards and have seen similar symptoms on both.
  • Mouse and keyboard are low power usb devices.

Assuming that usb hub in 27" is a powered monitor. Symptoms seem similar to USB power supply failure. Was their any change to USB hub firmware in firmware update?

Anyone experiencing similar issues?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
