Iphone 5 stays on 'searching'

it was working perfectly then i switched it off, and now the top left just stays on 'searching'. i've tried resetting it multiple times, switching on airplane mode, turning it on and off, but it still wont work. is there anything i can do? i am on O2 in the UK
