My ipad is stuck...it has the apple a screen.

My ipad is stuck...it has the apple on the screen as if it is coming on and has the symbol also as if battery is dead. When charger is plugged in, it keeps making the noise about every 10 seconds like it makes when first plugging up to charger. You cannot turn it off. Please help....what can I do to fix this problem?

iPad, iOS 4

Once the screen is black from holding down the 2 buttons. The apple reappears almost immediately. The circle starts rotating again in about 5 - 8 seconds after the apple comes back on. The the circle just stops rotating and is just there on top of the apple on the black screen. I have even tried to turn off the ipad, it won't even let me do that.

Hi will198,

Welcome to the Apple Support Community,

It sounds as if the battery on your iPad is depleted at the moment and doesn't have enough charge in it to allow it to boot up properly.

When the battery symbol appears on-screen is it flashing with a power symbol or static with a small red indicator?

I'd recommend leaving it connected to a mains charger and leaving it for around 30 minutes. (USB charging through a computer may take a while longer).

The iPad should eventually spring to life when it has a minimum charge capacity in the battery.

It was the rotating circle that appears when screen is going off from dying. However, I tried holding the power button and home button at the same time and the rotating circle leaves for a few seconds, but the apple is still on the screen and is still making the connecting to charger nosie about every 10 sec.

Hi will198,

The noise the iPad makes when you disconnect and reconnect the charger could indicate a problem with the USB cable or port it's connected to if you've got it charging off a computer just now.

Do you have another USB cable or can you try a different USB port if it's connected to a computer?

Another thing to try is to disconnect the USB cable and put the iPad into DFU mode and see if you get a different symbol on screen. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4097 for details.

The screen is totally black with the white apple in the center that appers when turning the ipad on. On top of the apple is the little rotating circle that comes on if your ipad is about to loose charge. When I hold down the power button and the home button for about 15 sec. the whole screen goes black, then the apple appears again and then in about 10 sec. the rotating circle appears again. The noise it is making is the noise that the ipad makes when you first plug it in to charge, but instead of only making it when plugged in, it continues to make it about every 10 sec. or so.

Hi Will,

Thanks for that, what's the longest you've left the iPad on with the Apple logo on-screen and the rotating circle? Does it automatically reboot itself in a loop if you leave it?

When it does reboot itself how long is it staying on for before it drops off again?

Have you tried powering the iPad off by pressing sleep/wake buttons and home button together until the screen goes off then letting go of the sleep/wake button but continuing to press the home button? This should bring up a screen prompting you to connect to iTunes.

My ipad is stuck...it has the apple a screen.
