Fans at 5000rpm for no reason

Hello,

I have a macbook pro retina 15 inches. Sometimes my fans start up and get to around 5000rpm for no reason. I downloaded istat on my laptop and the temperature of everything is around 30 celcius. The computer doesn't feel hot at all.

Does anyone know why my fan is acting up for no reason?

I got this computer a month ago.

That's not normal. The first thing you should try is to reset the SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 This will restore the fan speed to factory settings, so if it's a software problem, it will be fixed.

If it doesn't work, there's something wrong with your Mac, so take the computer to an Apple Store to get your Mac repaired or replaced

Contact AppleCare and report the problem. There are several similar anecdotal reports associated with the Retina MBP.

This could be a hardware problem, or it may be a software or firmware anomaly that could be addressed in a future update, but I'm just guessing about that. In any event make sure you notify Apple otherwise they may never know.
