plugged in my shuffle and the computer is not recognizing it?

I have the same problem. I had to deauthorize all my computers to get rid of some old ones that I no longer use and all my devices (except my iPad) disappeared, too. When I connected my shuffle to sync it, my computer didn't recognize that it was even plugged in.
