Safari's performance is dreadful, and none of the suggested remedies seem to work. Repeatedly, it crawls to a halt, and I get the spinning beach ball. I reset the application, and it got slower.

Why is it impossible to open more than three or four tabs without Safari choking? When I tell it to reload the pages, I still get a blank page for each tab. I am just about ready to switch to Firefox.
