Is it safe to install bootcamp?

I want to run a program for Windows only on my MacBook Pro. I googled this and Boot Camp was one of the first things that came up. I don't know if this is what Boot Camp is for or anything like that. A message was visible in the process of installing it telling me to back up my disk before partitioning it or installing Windows. I don't know what this means or how to go about doing it. If someone could tell me what this means and how to do it, that would be great. Thanks.

So you haven't then.

You can't install Windows until you buy Windows, try Amazon.

And please read the Boot Camp documentation (page 1 in Boot Camp) clearly you have little experience of it and you can render your Mac unusable with a mistake.

Back up your computer entirely before proceeding.
