How can I stop Safari from restoring session? A page which is preloading crashes the system so I can't change the preferences.

I was attempting to view a picture in Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the warning that "some browsers may have trouble displaying this image at full resolution." Safari froze and then crashed, causing the computer itself to crash. Now, every time I attempt to open Safari it goes back to the same page with the same results. Is there any way I can stop Safari from restoring sessions without actually entering into the system? A real vicious circle...

Thanks for any help.

Read this whole message before doing anything.

Back up all data.

Quit Safari if it’s running.

Hold down the option key and select

Go Library

from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):

  • Caches/com.apple.Safari
  • Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
  • Caches/Metadata/Safari
  • Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState

Try Safari again.
