Server Error---Trouble Signing into FaceTime?

Hello,

I just got a MacBook as a gift, so I am not sure of any settings, apps, systems, etc. I am trying to sign into FaceTime and I keep getting an error, in red letters, about not being able to contact the server, and that I should try later. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have looked at other discussions about "/etc" files, and I can't find how to do that. So, I am at a loss 😟
