im in dire need of help.

i've just purchased a new, 30gb, video ipod. i have windows ME. i realize that i cannot install itunes. i've gotten another program that should (for fourty dollars) work just as well as itunes, infact it said it would work better than. Upon installing this new program (anapod), i've realized that my computer isn't recognizing my ipod as a driver. I have no clue how to make it realize that it's there, because i cannot format it. I've read numerous pages on incidents like this, and all of them told me to go to a friends house, and format it there. I did that. When i arrived there and attempted to format - it wouldn't work. does ANYONE have any idea what to do. please let me know, please.

Yes. Install Windows 2000 or XP on your computer.

Sorry, your username brought out my naughty side. I apologize if they came out the wrong way.

Seriously though, when connecting the ipod to the friends computer make sure that they have the correct service pack installed for windows. You'll need service pack 4 for Win 2000, or service pack 2 for Win XP.

Then make sure you are connecting the ipod to a USB 2.0 port. Not a USB 1.1. Not a port on the front of the computer.

If you are certain you have the latest service packs and the USB's are givin the ipod the juice it needs, try placing it into disk mode to see if the frinds computer will recognize it. Go here:

And I am not holding out too much hope that you can use the ipod on ME even if you can get it set up on Win 2000 or XP. Minimum tech specs aren't easily trumped.

im in dire need of help.
