An updated Apple ID is not linked to App Store/iTunes purchases and Apple Dev program anymore.

Hello all,

I used to have an Apple ID that was not an email (Just a plain user name - I created it in 2010). Several days ago I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 6.1. During the upgraded i was asked to "Change my Apple id to some valid e-mail". This step could not be escaped and I did so.

Now my updated Apple ID is not linked with any of my previous App Store/iTune purchases anymore. In addition, I'm not able to access Apple Dev programs where I am a member.

It's not a new Apple ID - it looks like an amended one - all other details of my account (like name, phone etc) are the same. In addition, I'm more than sure that I did this change via the iPhone's "What's new in iOS 6.1. Get stared" wizard.

But it seems that Apple considers my updated Apple ID as a completely new one.

Does anybody know how to fix this? and restore my ownership over the previous iTunes purchases and participation in Apple Dev programs?

Even if you changed your Apple ID, you should still own the items that you purchased with it. When you sign in to your account (old Apple Id), use the new Apple ID and your password and you should be able to access your account get your purchases as well.

With the Apple Dev programs, I recommend contacting support for this.

I don't own the items purchased anymore... 😟

For new Apple ID iTunes says something like "This Apple ID has not been used with iTunes yet" and asks me for the credit card details etc

For testing puproses I've deleted one of the purchased application from my device and iTunes claims that I need to buy it again....

Hmm.. Do you still have access to the email address of the old account? You can try resetting the password for that account to gain access to it. I'm thinking that you accidentally made another account when you were prompted to change your Apple ID to a valid email.

yes, I did.

Moreover the email linked with my old account is exactly the same as the new Apple ID. Unfortunately when I try to restore the password with iForgot I get "Email has been sent", but I receive nothing.

It looks like Apple did change my Apple ID, but all links to App Store purchases/Dev programs had been lost...
