I have iphoto8 installed on my imac running mountain lion.If I install iphoto 11 will my existing photos be installed on iphoto 11 automatically

Back up your present iPhoto library. Install the new version of iPhoto. When you run it for the first time it will want to update the library. When it's finished you should be good to go.
